PETER COOK
Peter Cook came to fame with the satirical West End show Beyond the Fringe in which he starred with Alan Bennett, Jonathan Miller and Dudley Moore and which helped establish the British satire boom of the 1960s. Cook and Moore went on to form a successful TV partnership with their show "Not Only ... But Also" and also recorded two albums of profanities under the aliases of Derek and Clive. Cook ran the Establishment comedy club in Soho in the early 60s and was a majority shareholder in Private Eye. He wrote and starred in one cult classic film "Bedazzled" (1967) but much of his greatest work was in the form of improvised monologues delivered at dinner parties or while on the way to watch Tottenham Hotspur and remembered only by those who were present.
